United States Obituary?

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

9-11 Cross Under Attack

Everyone remembers the Radical Islamic Terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. What was under reported was that short days after the attack and amidst rubble clearing workers found a perfectly formed cross from the steel beams that used to constitute one of the twin towers. This was under reported in the Anti-American, Anti-Christian press.

The liberal media are the same people that are fighting the simple fact that this Country was founded under God and with Christian values. Undeniably so.

Now a group of American Atheists and four New Yorkers are suing the states of New York and New Jersey for planning to place the cross at the 9-11 memorial for the attacks' victims.

Totally unbelievable. And absolutely undeniable is the fact that the Islamic Terrorist attacked the United States because we are a Christian Nation.

Rep. David Wu (D-OR) aka Tigerman to Resign Amid Sex Scandal

This was out on the net a couple days ago and I know you have seen him,...this is the Oregon Democrat who has some realism and identity problems not to mention being a pervert.

Rep. David Wu (D-Ore.) announced Tuesday he will resign from Congress following accusations he had unwanted sexual contact with a teenage girl. "I cannot care for my family the way I wish while serving in Congress and fighting these very serious allegations," Wu said in a statement.

Wu claims the incident with the daughter of a longtime friend and donor--who is now 18 years old--was consensual, and said he will continue to serve until the resolution of the debt ceiling battle.

Wu for months faced intense pressure back home to resign following reports of his erratic behavior. Prior to today's announcement, he tried to deflect such pressure by stressing that he was undergoing mental health treatment. On Friday, Wu's problems deepened when The Oregonian reported on the allegations over the unwanted sexual encounter.

House Democrats on Sunday called for an ethics investigation into the incident, increasing the public pressure on the seven term congressman to leave office. Wu at first indicated he would simply retire in 2012, and would not resign.

Wu disclosed in July 2010 that he had stopped drinking. He was legally separated from his wife the following month. This past February, the congressman admitted to receiving mental health treatment following reports of his bizarre behavior.

Due to Wu's perceived vulnerability, a competitive 2012 race had already been taking shape in his 1st District. State labor commissioner Brad Avakian began campaigning for the seat in April and has been joined by state Rep. Brad Witt for the Democratic nomination. The seat overall leans Democratic.

Even though another Democrat (Spendocrat) will most likely be elected for Wu's vacant seat, it is good news is that there is one less buddy of Barney Frank's in Congress. Can't you just see Tigerman Wu standing next to Barney Frank in a Winnie the Pooh costume?

Star Parker on Congressman Allen West (R-FL)

You need to read the article on Townhall, by Star Parker. Her article stems from the event where Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), also Democratic National Committee chair, suggested that the nasty email she got from Congressman Allen West (R-FL), responding to her attack on him in the House, resulted from him being “under pressure.”

Of course, Allen West is under pressure. As is every freedom loving American, as we watch our great country sink.

Cowboy's comment: Does anyone really think LTC (ret) Allen West, who fought terrorists and insurgents in the streets and fields of Iraq, feels pressured from an idiot like Wasserman Schultz?

In two and a half years, a left wing Democrat president along with a left wing Democrat congress, controlled by the likes of Ms Wasserman Schultz, have changed this country so fundamentally it is not clear at all to what extent we can recover.

In just two and half years, they’ve increased federal spending a trillion dollars. It took George W. Bush, the largest spender since President Johnson, eight years to accomplish this.

The national debt stood at $10.6 trillion when Barack Obama became president. Now, two and a half years later, it’s at $14.3 trillion. A forty percent increase.

Allen West, who were elected in the 2010 electoral backlash, are trying to do something to save our future. One is the Cut, Cap, and Balance bill that the House just passed, which was the focus of Wasserman Schultz’s attack on West.

Wasserman Schultz got on West for supporting this bill, calling this a platform for cutting Medicare for the seniors in his district.

Let’s get things straight.

The threat to seniors is Obamacare.

It cuts $500 billion out of Medicare to pay for its new socialized medicine regime.

We have turned our lives, health, and pocketbooks over to the same humble geniuses who told us that $850 billion in stimulus spending would create 4 million jobs and prevent unemployment from going over 8 percent.

Today one and half million fewer Americans are working than when Barack Obama became president and unemployment stands at 9.2 percent.

West explained the vitriol of the left toward him, one of two black Republicans in the House, as stemming from his “being the guy that got off their 21st century plantation.”

Cowboy's comment: This man should be our President. Anyone for a straight Florida ticket of West-Rubio for 2012? Together they have more common sense and honor than all the King's (Obama) Men (his cabinet and czars) put together.

Little Johnny's Economic Lesson

The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on productive salesmanship.

Little Sally led off: "I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30," she said proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success." "Very good," said the teacher.

Little Mary was next: "I sold magazines," she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events." "Very good, Mary" said the teacher Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath. Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467," he said.

"$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling?"

"Toothbrushes," said Little Johnny.

"Toothbrushes!" echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?"

"I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny. "I set up a Dip & Chip stand and gave everybody who walked by a free sample. " They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog crap!" Then I would say, "It is dog crap. Wanna buy a toothbrush?"

"I used the Obama approach of giving you something shitty for free, and then making you pay to get the taste out of your mouth."

Destroying America from the Inside - The Communist Plan

The United States was warned almost 50 years ago that there is a large Communist movement in this Country,....The list of communist goals contained in the book, "The Naked Communist" by Cleon Skousen, was read into the Congressional Record by U.S. Congressman Albert S. Herlong, Jr. of Florida, on January 10, 1963. We can't say we were not warned.

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. Done, just listen to Obama and Pelosi.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man." Done, as the mainstream media calls the American Founding Father's "racists".

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. Done.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. Done and done again!

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. Done.

The Beginning of the Demise of Free Speech?

In Gould, Arkansas, the City Council has moved to ban all gatherings and groups, no matter how small from discussing city matters without prior permission from the authorities. A proposed ordinance would even extend to residents’ own homes and is so broad in its reach that it covers boy scout groups and book clubs. Even dinner table conversations about the local community would technically be outlawed.

“You can’t just come in here, get with four people and decide to start an organization,” Gould City Councilor Sonja Farley told the reporters, adding, “You will go through your city council with legal documentation and get approval.”

The city mayor, Earnest Nash, is standing up for the people of Gould and fiercely opposing the move.
“They can take me to court,” said Nash. “This is America and even though this is Gould, Arkansas, this is still part of America. And in America, you can’t just vote and violate peoples constitutional rights.”

“With this city council, it’s their way or the highway,” Nash added. “They act more like Napoleon Bonaparte. Total domination.”

The mayor has vetoed the ordinance on a technicality, but has warned that if it is reintroduced at an upcoming council meeting next month, it could be passed into law without his approval. The local Fox affiliate had John DiPippa, Dean of the Law School at the University of Arkansas, examine the proposed ordinance, which he instantly dismissed as unconstitutional, noting “I couldn’t believe that it was real.”

“The truth is the city of Gould doesn’t have the authority to tell anyone that they have no right to petition them, no right to speak and no right to exist in their city,” DiPippa told Fox16. “The fact is, if it’s aimed at this group, it also extends to you talking to your mother or a church group or any other group that wants to form. A garden club! It’s so broad that it can’t possible comply with the First Amendment,” he added. When DiPippa attempted to inform the council of his conclusion, members reportedly attempted to have him fired from his job at the University of Arkansas.

As the reporter states in the following clip, under the new ordinance even the interview the station conducted with the mayor would be classified as illegal. This is, unfortunately, not an isolated incident. As we reported last week, an Arizona woman was arrested recently at a town meeting in Quartzsite after the council ordered henchmen to remove her when they realized she was about to air their dirty laundry.

Despite the fact that the Mayor intervened and confirmed Jennifer Jones had been recognized to speak and had not violated the council’s rules, police still dragged her from the meeting and threw her in jail.

The Quartzsite Police Chief then asked the town council to declare a “state of emergency” in light of the publicity the town received from the incident.

In other recent incidents across the country, local councils and police have targeted residents for innocuous activities such as maintaining front yard vegetable gardens, owning unlicensed dogs, setting up lemonade stands and collecting rainwater.

Who's Burning D.C. Down?


Political prognosticator Charlie Cook appeared on National Public Radio on July 11 and summarized perfectly the media narrative on the debt-limit battle. Speaker John Boehner, Cook said, "is not a burn-the-barn-down, break-the-china kind of guy, (and) he does not necessarily reflect the views of a majority ... of the House Republican Conference, who are of the burn-the-barn-down, break-the-china mold."

Hold on here. Why is it destructive to insist on a limited government? Why is fiscal sanity equated with pyromania? Cook was brought on as a "nonpartisan" analyst, but there's nothing either civil or accurate in casting conservatives as barnburners.

This is the "nonpartisan" Washington narrative of the budget talks: Reasonable Obama vs. Dangerously Unhinged Republicans. The establishment is imbibing deeply of the David Plouffe spin that somehow, a reckless, unsupervised Congress spent all the money and Barack Obama was too busy golfing to notice, as if he didn't sign every spending bill. It's as if he didn't aggressively shovel Obamacare and almost a trillion dollars of "stimulus" on top of the deficit mountain.

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen got the ball rolling on July 4 by describing the GOP as the "Grand Old Cult" that needs a "mental health professional," and its presidential field was "a virtual political Jonestown."

On July 5, MSNBC star Chris Matthews started "Hardball" by comparing conservative Republicans to foreign Islamic militants: "Well, the GOP has become the Wahabis of American government, willing to risk bringing down the whole country in the service of their anti-tax ideology." They were "willing to risk economic Armageddon in the name of religion -- that is, the religion of no taxes." By the next morning, Newsweek editor-in-chief Tina Brown upped the ante and called the Republicans "suicide bombers."

So who, exactly, is unhinged in this debate?

On NBC, White House "reporter" Chuck Todd pointed fingers: The problem was that new "tea party caucus" that can't back "anything that remotely looks like a tax hike on anybody." Ever heard of liberal Democrats who can't back "anything that remotely looks like you spent less than last year"?

That so-called "conservative" David Brooks -- please, please stop this "conservative" silliness! -- also wrote a column on July 4 for The New York Times trashing tea party types for wanting to file a "psychological protest" instead of governing. They have "no sense of moral decency" about debt.

How ridiculous and perverse it is for Brooks to insist they don't care about debt -- and Obama does! Did Brooks spend the past two years in a cocoon of hermetically sealed ignorance?

Brooks claimed that Obama is desperate to campaign in 2012 as a "moderate" and would love to make a sweet deal for the Republicans that would provide, we are told, "a roughly 3-to-1 rate of spending cuts to revenue increases, an astonishing concession." The biggest, most reckless spender in the history of the republic, by far, and he's a "moderate." What would it take to label this man a liberal?

For conservatives who remember the budget negotiations of 1990, this whole routine is nauseatingly familiar. The media are playing the exact same role today that they did then. They all encouraged Bush One to be a savvy dealmaker and forget that troublesome "read my lips, no new taxes" pledge. We were all told that deal would be two dollars in spending cuts for every dollar in tax hikes. Ditto with Reagan and Tip O'Neill in 1982.

The media want complete amnesia about what happens next. In both cases, spending (and the deficit) surged upward, which is what happens when the Democrats make big "compromises." Bush lost in 1992, due in part to angry conservative voters who believed his campaign promises.

Here's what our media could be asking, but they won't, since it constitutes a serious question. If Obama really believed in a "balanced" menu of tax hikes and spending cuts, why didn't he pass all these tax hikes he's now touting when Democrats were solidly in control in 2009 and 2010? Obama never made any plans to "pay for" his "stimulus" with new taxes, and he even claimed Obamacare would reduce the deficit, which was a cruel farce. And isn't he now touting tax hikes on taxpayers making less than $250,000 -- another broken promise? Does no reporter care to notice that would violate his "no new taxes except on the super-rich" promises of 2008?

Instead, Obama is allowed to hold press conferences and lecture the Republicans about how they're not serious about deficit reduction. Obama is allowed to paint himself as the troubled centrist who's been cursed with an opposing party stuffed with extremists.

This time, I'm not sure anyone's buying what the left-wing press is selling.

More Gun Restrictions for Citizens

Coming on the heels of the incredibly stupid Eric Holder Justice Department "Operation Fast and Furious" where the U.S. Government facilitated arming of Mexican Drug Cartels,....the Administration now decides to shift the blames to Americans and further restrict gun rights through the regulatory process of the executive office - in fact, powers not articulated by the Constitution.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration on Monday approved a new regulation requiring firearms dealers along the Southwest border to report multiple sales of certain semiautomatic rifles, a rule intended to make it harder for Mexican drug cartels to obtain and smuggle weapons from the United States.

Under the rule, dealers in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas will be required to inform the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives if someone buys — within a five-day period — more than one semiautomatic rifle that accepts a detachable magazine and uses ammunition greater than .22 caliber. Such weapons include AK-47s.

Dealers nationwide are already required to report bulk sales of handguns, and the A.T.F. applied to impose such a regulation late last year to help detect bulk “straw buyers” — people who say they are buying weapons for themselves but then transfer them to criminals.

In a statement, the deputy attorney general, James Cole, said the regulation was justified by the need to help the A.T.F. “detect and disrupt the illegal weapons trafficking networks responsible for diverting firearms from lawful commerce to criminals” and in particular to “help confront the problem of illegal gun trafficking into Mexico.”

“The international expansion and increased violence of transnational criminal networks pose a significant threat to the United States,” Mr. Cole said, adding that rifles covered by the new regulation “are highly sought after by dangerous drug-trafficking organizations and frequently recovered at violent crime scenes near the Southwest border.”

The proposal has been hotly contested by gun-control advocates, and Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president for the National Rifle Association, said his organization was preparing to sue the government once it tried to begin enforcing the regulation.

Mr. LaPierre contended that it should take an act of Congress to impose such a requirement, not a regulation developed by the executive branch alone. He noted that the similar rule requiring dealers to report multiple handgun sales was part of the Gun Control Act of 1968.

“We view it as a blatant attempt by the Obama administration to pursue their gun-control agenda through backdoor rule making, and the N.R.A. will fight them every step of the way,” he said. “There are three branches of government and separation of powers, and we believe they do not have the authority to do this.”

An A.T.F. spokesman cited a federal statute governing the licensing of firearms dealers as the source of the agency’s legal authority to enact a regulation allowing it to collect the information about bulk sales of semiautomatic rifles.

The A.T.F. unveiled its proposal for the new rule in December, and originally sought permission to impose it more quickly under emergency procedures. But in February, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget rejected that request, saying that gunrunning to Mexico was a continuing problem — not the kind of fast-moving situation that justifies making an exception to the normal process for reviewing new regulations.

The approval for the regulation comes at a time when the A.T.F.’s efforts to combat straw purchasing and gunrunning along the border is under intense Congressional scrutiny because of a botched investigation called Operation Fast and Furious.

In that operation, federal agents, wanting to trace the flow of guns from straw buyers to drug cartels, monitored the purchase of several thousand guns but did not intervene before some were smuggled into Mexico . The bureau then lost track of many of them, and two later turned up at the scene of a shootout in Arizona where an American Border Patrol agent was killed.

Put Me in Charge! - One Texan's Editorial Letter

The following letter to the editor was sent to me having been published in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco, Texas, on 18 November 2010. Still interesting and applicable today.

Put me in charge

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem", consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Government subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

Rep. Michele Bachmann - What ‘Constitutional Conservatism’ means to me

Michele Bachmann does not give an inch. She does not not pander to political expediency and that is refreshing. Read Bachmann's article below and see if you don't think she is a srong candiate for the Republican nominee.

I am a constitutional conservative. So what does that mean? I’ve earned a couple of law degrees, but defining “constitutional conservatism” shouldn’t require a legal scholar. Let me start by pointing out that the conservative movement, as Ronald Reagan believed, is a three-legged stool. One leg consists of peace-through-strength conservatives, another of fiscal and economic conservatives, and the third of social conservatives — the values voters.

Constitutional conservatism includes all three of those legs. My candidacy is based on the unity of the conservative movement — because each leg of the stool is vital.
I believe our founders knew what they were doing when they designed a limited government with specific, enumerated powers. I’m also convinced that many of our problems result from the federal government’s insatiable — and unconstitutional — grab for power and money. On issues ranging from light bulbs to bailouts, to the Dodd-Frank banking legislation, Washington has been on a destructive spree of bureaucratic empire-building. It’s time for that to stop.

Moreover, I believe in the unjustly neglected Tenth Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Instead of piling more costly mandates on the states and intrusive laws on the people, our federal government should respect all of the resources and responsibilities that properly belong to the states, to local governments, to private industry and, most of all, to the people.

James Madison cautioned that for a “government to control the governed” it must be obliged “to control itself.” A government that fails to exercise self-control and respect its own boundaries is a threat to the rights and liberties of its citizens. Among those rights is the right to life. I believe we must restore and respect the dignity of life for all, the born and unborn. As we read in the Declaration of Independence, we are endowed by our Creator with rights, starting with the right to life.

Another essential right is embodied in the Second Amendment: the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. Whether for self-defense, hunting or recreation, this right must be protected.

And of course, we must repeal Obamacare. We must pull it up by its roots for many good reasons, including the fact that the so-called personal mandate is unconstitutional.
In addition to individual rights, the Constitution establishes vital checks and balances among the branches of government. As Montesquieu argued, the separation of governmental powers stands as a roadblock to tyranny. We’ve seen President Obama stretch that separation with his unjustified military action in Libya.

As commander in chief, I’ll make sure that America will lead from the front, not “lead from behind.” If we do go to war, we will fight with the resources we need to succeed. I will listen to my generals and admirals, not my pollsters. I will safeguard American sovereignty and I will protect our borders. But from the beginning, I will think always of — and abide always by — the United States Constitution.

Finally, let’s consider perhaps the most pressing current issue of all: the proposed increase in the national debt ceiling. I will vote against any increase in the debt ceiling because there needs to be a fundamental restructuring in how Washington spends taxpayer dollars. Unfortunately, the Obama administration didn’t seem eager recently to quash the notion that the congressional power of the purse, as enumerated in Article One of the Constitution, is merely a detail that can be pettifogged away by sharp lawyers. On this issue, I stand with the clear thinking of former federal judge Michael McConnell, who wrote recently, “Section Four of the Fourteenth Amendment does not create a back-door method for the Administration to borrow more money without congressional authorization.” It’s that philosophy — a strict construction of the Constitution — that I will look for in judicial appointees and that I will bring back to the executive branch.

In the meantime, I will continue to oppose any increase in the debt limit; I will oppose the budgetary shenanigans aimed at persuading Americans that phony spending cuts are somehow real. Constitutional conservatives, and all conservatives, should draw a firm line here.

It is time to put an end to government power grabs. It is time to restore constitutional government.

Obama Trys to Stop Texas Execution of Mexican National

Texas executes a Mexican National convicted of Murder after the Supreme Court turned down an appeal by Obama and the Mexican Government to spare him.

Humberto Leal, a Mexican National illegally living in this Country since he was a young boy, was convicted of murder and sentenced to death for the 1994 murder of 16-year-old Adria Sauceda, whose brutalized nude body was found hours after he left a San Antonio street party with her. She was bludgeoned with a chunk of asphalt.

Just before the execution, Leal admitted his guilt then yelled "One more thing," he said as the lethal drugs began taking effect,...Then he shouted twice, "Viva Mexico!"

Really inconceivable that President Obama would go to bat for a convicted murder until you look at the long held Democratic use of race,..in this case Hispanics, too further their goals of sucking up to various special interest groups to sway voters.

The Obama administration and the Mexican Government, in other words that low life Calderon, had asked the U.S. Supreme Court to delay Leal's execution so Congress could consider a law that would require court reviews in cases where condemned foreign nationals did not receive help from their consulates. They said the case could affect not only foreigners in the U.S. but Americans detained in other countries. The court rejected the request 5-4. Its five more conservative justices doubted that executing Leal would cause grave international consequences, and doubted "that it is ever appropriate to stay a lower court judgment in light of un-enacted legislation."

What Obama and his cohorts failed to comprehend is that new legislation enacted now cannot be retro-actively applied. What are they thinking? I know what Obama is thinking,...that the law doesn't apply to him. But I have news for him,...his title is President (and that is temporary - ending in Jan 2013),...his title is not King like he thinks it is.

Mexico's foreign ministry obvious condemned Leal's execution and have long complained about Capital Punishment in the U.S. Seems to me that Mexico could use a little capital punishment, especially for the murderous Cartels members who routinely kill people each and everyday in Mexico.

Adria Sauceda's mother, Rachel Terry, told San Antonio television station KSAT her family already had suffered too long. "A technicality doesn't give anyone a right to come to this country and rape, torture and murder anyone," she said.

Yes Ma'am, you're right and that's the way Texas saw it as well. Oh, one more thing........Viva Texas!.....and Justice to Murderers.

June's Republican Straw Poll from Town Hall

Ron Paul won the June Townhall.com and HotAir.com Presidential Straw Poll. This is the second time since January that Ron Paul has won the Straw Poll. He also saw the biggest jump in support this month at 5.8%. In fact, he was one of only four candidates who gained ground this month: Sarah Palin (+4.1%), Michele Bachmann (+5.3%) and Rick Perry (+3.4%).

Cowboy's Comments: Can't bring myself to support Ron Paul. I think although he would be a much better President than the clown we have in office now, Rep. Paul is unacceptable to the majority of the American people and is unelectable. But I know there are alot of Ron Paul supporters out there, who I have just pissed off.

Not surprisingly, those candidates received the most buzz this in the media this month. Herman Cain, the May Straw Poll Winner, received the biggest drop in support at -6.6%. Has the Hermanator's support peaked? Is Sarah Palin making a comeback in anticipation of a possible presidential announcement? Are new faces Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry beginning to gain momentum?


Very interesting race. I hope the Republicans, Conservatives and Tea Party can come together to support one candidate when it is time. As we all know, any of the Republican candidates would be a much better job than Obama.

Congressman Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) just joined the race. I believe he'll be much in the shadows but it remains to be seen how much he'll add to the debate.

Democrats Wrong on Tax Policy

Here's a question: Why is repealing the Bush tax cuts such a constant obsession for the Democratic Party? Especially the top rates for the most successful earners and small business entrepreneurs?

It seems this is the Democratic answer for every single issue, every problem, every debate.

This, of course, saddens me enormously.

And so, always ready to help, I am recommending a 12-Step program to help them overcome their anger, resentment, and obsession over the Bush tax cuts. Democrats really need a Higher Power on this.

First, when tax rates were lowered across-the-board in mid-2003, the incentive effect kicked in to jump-start the economy immediately. Over the next four and a half years, before the financial meltdown slammed the economy-- and that was a credit event, not a fiscal one—8.2 million jobs were created.

Jobs essentially rose for about fifty consecutive months. Non-farm payrolls rose from just under 130 million to just over 138 million. Don’t believe me? You can look it up. This sort of job creation is exactly what President Obama would love to see happen now.

And, while jobs rose, the government took in more revenues. As a share of GDP, revenues rose from 16.2 percent to 18.5 percent. Simply put, supply-side tax cuts were the single best economic policy President Bush implemented.

Elsewhere, President Bush overspent and over regulated. And yes, the dollar collapsed on his watch. And from Fannie Mae to the Federal Reserve, the housing bubble was born.

But the tax cuts? They worked. And that's my point.

Cowboy's comment: Over Regulation? I don;t think we have ever seen the over regulation that is coming from the Obama administration. He is assuming powers not enumerated by the Constitution in order to take over lands and direct regulations that are killing small business and farming/ranching.

In fact, if you remember a little less than two years ago, his administration actually charged and attempted to court-martial 3 Navy Seals from Seal Team Six, when a terrorist suspect they captured, complained they had punched him during the take down and bloodied his nose. His administration further commented how brutal they were. The left were calling them Nazi's and Baby Killers. Now all of a sudden, the very brave men they vilified are now heroes when they make his administration look good in the eyes of the public. Obama just happened to be the one in office when the CIA finally found the b...... And our sailors took him out. Essentially, Obama only gave an answer. Yes or No, to him being taken out.

DREAM Act - Democrat Voter Recruitment

I think no where in the history of the United States has there been a time when the differences between the two major parties are greater than they are today. While the Republicans are holding fast against raising the Federal Debt Limit without cuts to the budget, the Democrats are wanting to raise the Debt Limit and spend more money on Stimulus programs. Some argue that the Stimulus failed. I argue that it was successful at what it was designed to do, throw money to programs and groups in order to solidify more Democrat voters. Does anyone remember ACORN, SEIU, AFL-CIO, UAW???

Another social program intended to drive more voters into the Democrat camp is the DREAM act which rewards the act of illegal immigration with entitlements.

I believe in a fast track to citizenship for people with the skills we need and for those foreign nationals who volunteer for the Armed Forces and serve honorably. But amnesty and free college is only going to entice more people to enter the U.S. illegally, sucking tax payer dollars from our diminishing coffers.

Five Moral Arguments Against the DREAM Act

It’s back. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is once again pushing the DREAM Act amnesty. Before a packed room (mostly of illegal aliens), the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing earlier this week stacked with witnesses who favor granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.

Leaving aside all of the deceitful provisions that have been built into the bill that makes it a much broader amnesty than proponents let on, it is important to address the fundamental premise that passing the bill is a moral imperative because the people who would benefit are blameless for being here illegally.

The DREAM Act fulfills the parents’ principle reason for breaking the law in the first place. Ask the typical illegal alien why he or she came to United States illegally, and invariably the answer is, “I wanted to do better for my family.” This is a perfectly rational and understandable response, but not a justification for violating the law. In essence, what the DREAM Act does is provide the parents precisely what they sought when they brought their kids illegally to the United States : a green card and all of the benefits that America has to offer. Even if the bill were to include a provision that DREAM Act beneficiaries could never sponsor the parents who brought them to the country illegally, it would still fulfill the parents’ primary objective for bringing them here.

The DREAM Act would touch-off an even greater wave of illegal immigration. Because the DREAM Act is being marketed as a moral imperative – as opposed to a more general amnesty, which is sold as bowing to reality – it comes with an absolute assurance that it will be repeated. If we have a moral imperative to provide amnesty to the current population of people who were brought here as kids, won’t we have the same moral imperative for the next generation of people who arrive under similar circumstances? The unmistakable message to people all around the world is: Get over here and bring your kids. America will feel morally obligated to give them green cards too.

The DREAM Act absolves illegal aliens of their fundamental responsibilities as parents. There is a fundamental principle that parents are responsible for the consequences that their actions and choices have on their kids. Unfortunately, children inevitably pay a price when parents make bad decisions or break laws. The DREAM Act carves out a single exception to this universal tenet of the social contract. The message it sends is that if you violate U.S. immigration law, American society is responsible for fixing the mess you created for your kids.

The absence of a reward or benefit is not the same as a punishment. DREAM Act proponents repeatedly argue that by not granting legal status to targeted beneficiaries we are, essentially, punishing children for the sins of their parents. This is an absolutely specious claim. By no stretch of the imagination are the children of illegal aliens being punished. Not rewarding them with legal residence and expensive college tuition subsidies is simply withholding benefits to which they never had any entitlement in the first place.

Adults have the obligation to do the right thing, even if their parents have done the wrong thing. Society glorifies people who do what is right, especially when doing what is right comes at some significant cost. Yes, many would-be DREAM Act beneficiaries have been dealt a bad hand (by their parents). As difficult (even unfair) as it may be, upon reaching adulthood they have the responsibility to obey the law. When, for example, Jose Antonio Vargas proclaims on the pages of The New York Times Magazine, that he knowingly engaged in illegal activities in order to remain and work in the United States illegally, he became culpable in his own right. While he, and others like him, may be more sympathetic than the people who committed the predicate offense, their situation does not excuse their own illegal acts.
