Right to Work Update

Last week, the U.S. House Workforce Committee held a hearing on the Obama Labor Board's recent onslaught of Big Labor power grabs that undermine worker freedom. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chairman and former union lawyer Mark Pearce offered his spin after the hearing, calling the Board's decisions "fair and even-handed." Cowboy's Comment:Geez, that's like putting the fox in the hen house with a pro-Union Lawyer at the NLRB.......Here's a question: "What do you call ten Union Lawyers at the bottom of a Lake?"......"...a good start is what it is."

The Socialist Union won out against Boeing. The Union complaint was that if Boeing was allowed to move a plant to South Carolina, where there is a right to work, it would a civil rights violation against the Unionized Boeing workers currently in Washington State. Cowboy's Comment:Requiring any worker to pay union dues as a condition of employment is totally Un-American and a major reason this country is in the dire straits we find ourselves in.

But at least one individual employee, victimized by one recent NLRB decision, stood up and made her voice heard.

On July 22, Barbara Ivey learned the radical Service Employees International Union (SEIU) was launching a campaign to unionize her workplace.

Thirteen days later, her employer, Kaiser Permanente, announced that it was recognizing the union as the monopoly bargaining agent of all workers in the unit.

There was no secret ballot vote. No one from the SEIU ever contacted Ms Ivey about whether or not she wanted to join or support the union.

Other workers told Ivey they felt pressured to sign so-called "union authorization cards."

But Kaiser Permanente agreed to recognize the union through the abusive card check process, and the workers faced an uphill battle to exercise their rights.

Relying on the National Right to Work Foundation-won Dana precedent, Ivey utilized the only means left at her disposal. She asked her coworkers to sign a petition demanding a secret ballot vote.

By August 8, Ivey turned in a petition supported by 45 percent of her coworkers to request a decertification election. The NLRB set a private vote for September 20.

But before that vote could occur, the Board overturned Dana, canceling the election.

Barbara Ivey and her coworkers must now wait one to four years to request a new decertification election.

Ivey told the U.S. House panel, "For me and my fellow employees however, snatching away those rights just as an election has been agreed to and a date had been set was cruel and unethical."

Hate Crime? Nahhh

I heard today about the Iraqi immigrant who was kidnapped at gun point, in Saint Louis , then had a Star of David carved on his back, by some Muslim fanatics.

Apparently this gent was followed when he was driving, then boxed in and held at gunpoint while the Star of David was carved into his back with a knife. The fanatical Muslims who did this deed told the Iraqi immigrant that they did not like his poem posted on the internet that expressed support for Israeli right to exist.

Has anyone else heard or read about this? You would think that with the “Jewish Controlled Media” that this would be all over the news on all formats: print; internet and cable/television.

Oh, by the way the authorities are “pretty sure” this is a hate crime. There is no mistaking the fact that if this was a Christian or Jewish perpetrator, than this would not only be all over the news, but the title Hate Crime would precede all coverage.

Have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff,

By the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff,

And giving them the free stuff in the first place.

We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are

Now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.

Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide

somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason?

The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.

The number of people now getting free stuff outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff. We have one chance to change that in 2012. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it.

The simple formula for a better America :

Obama - Gone!

Borders - Closed!

Language - English only

Culture - centered around the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights!

Entitlements: Reduced by putting people to work. Mandatory Drug Screening before Welfare! And NO freebies to Non-Citizens!

We the people are coming and bringing change with us in November 2012.

Shades of Another DDS (Democrat Double Standard)

Legislators questioning Solyndra execs about their bankruptcy and possible White House involvement in getting a gold plated loan deal are cautioned by Henry (I need a good dentist) Waxman (D-CA) Representatives about harassing Solyndra execs as they plead the protection of the 5th amendment not to answer question or risk incriminating themselves.

This is the same Congressman Waxman who has lamblasted the likes of sports figures, Roger Clemens comes to mind, when these people appeared before Congress and failed to kowtow before the cartoonish Waxman.

Solyndra is the third major U.S. solar power company to go out of business, despite Obama Administration efforts to cast solar power as the next boon to our economy and solution to our increasing power needs.

At a minimum, how embarrassing to Obama and his Administration that he threatens to gut the coal industry, makes the U.S. increasingly dependent upon foreign oil, and has his pet alternative energy projects fail,.....one after another. And not only fail, but take American tax payers dollars with it.

Cowboys had a reader ask about a comment about incompetence or criminality of the Obama's Administration, lately highlighted by the Solyandra debacle...and then re-enforced by the Light Squared company where the Obama White House tried to manipulate a DoD response to that company getting a contract that may impact in a negative manner of DoD Communications and GPS systems. Obama's financial holdings in Light Squared had nothing to do with this White House attempted bullying of DoD. Light Squared is a whole 'nother story itself.

Exposure being what it is,......or to put it plainly - sometimes crap just floats to the surface, a recent article by Holly Bailey, which you can read here, utilizes the Obama Economic Advisory Team as the keystone example of Administration incompetency. Cowboy's thinks it is as good of an example of any.

Ms Bailey uses Ron Suskind's new Book ""Confidence Men: Wall Street, Washington and the Education of a President", which highlights the opinion that Obama's hiring of his economic team (called in the book as a "team of rivals") appears to be one of the worst decisions he has made as president.

Cowboy's Comment: I would not describe these economic advisors as a "team of rivals" as their brains don't rival anything but a dung beetle. I would prefer to call them a "team of butt clowns".

Nearly three years after Obama taking office this country has faced increasing financial chaos - very little of which can be blamed on former President George Bush - however that doesn't stop Obama from blaming Bush.

Cowboy's Comment: What ever happened to the "Buck Stops Here". Well, what happened is that Obama is not a Harry Truman Democrat, President or Leader. He is more in the form of a Jimmy Carter Democrat.

Since the entry on duty of Obama's financial advisory team, this team has been a source for stories that highlight the textbook dysfunctionality. Let's see: Christina Romer, the former chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisers; Larry Summers, the former director of the National Economic Council; Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner; Peter Orszag, then-chairman of the Office of Management and Budget; and who can forget then-White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel known for his "let's talk when your naked approach".

Obama and this country would be much better off if he hired Larry, Moe and Curly to manage this country financial future.

Herman Cain Ssuprises Some in Florida Straw Poll Win

Watching the last debates I sorta thought Rick Santorum did well. I thought Romney held his ground or dipped slightly. Thought Bachmann did not hurt herself. Rick Perry obviously and self admittedly did fairly poor. Gary Johnston apparently took his Prozac which helped him appear as less the goof. Ron Paul,..well Ron Paul is Ron Paul and he did less well than previous debates.

I thought my favorite, Herman Cain, did good, not outstndling but good, and I liked his complimentary comment's about Newt Gingich. As Newt Gingich may be the smartest candidate on the stage. And we admit that straw polls, are worth about the same as straw in goat mangers, but it is heartening to see Herman Cain as the winner of the Florida straw poll.

Don't let it fool you that Bachmann and Romney stated they are not participating in the straw poll. They feared a poor showing that would diminish their message and their standing, but their names were added anyway and they did not do so well.

The Numbers:

Herman Cain 37%
Rick Perry 15%
Mitt Romney 14%

Romney only 14% and in third place after his campaign has been off the ground for basically three years as opposed to just three months or so for Cain and 5 weeks for Perry.

Are The Rich Taxed Less Than Secretaries?

From the article FACT CHECK: Are rich taxed less than secretaries? By Stephen Ohlemacher of the Associated Press,....although the article could have been entitled Administration Class Warfare Strategy

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama makes it sound as if there are millionaires all over America paying taxes at lower rates than their secretaries. "Middle-class families shouldn't pay higher taxes than millionaires and billionaires," Obama said Monday. "That's pretty straightforward. It's hard to argue against that."

The data tell a different story. On average, the wealthiest people in America pay a lot more taxes than the middle class or the poor, according to private and government data. They pay at a higher rate, and as a group, they contribute a much larger share of the overall taxes collected by the federal government.

There may be individual millionaires who pay taxes at rates lower than middle-income workers. In 2009, 1,470 households filed tax returns with incomes above $1 million yet paid no federal income tax, according to the Internal Revenue Service. That, however, was less than 1 percent of the nearly 237,000 returns with incomes above $1 million.

In his White House address Monday, Obama called on Congress to increase taxes by $1.5 trillion as part of a 10-year deficit reduction package totaling more than $3 trillion. He proposed that Congress overhaul the tax code and impose what he called the "Buffett rule," named for billionaire investor Warren Buffett.

The rule says, "People making more than $1 million a year should not pay a smaller share of their income in taxes than middle-class families pay."

Cowboy's comments: You already said that. And the reason you are saying it many times is the age old rule that if you make up your own facts and tell it enough, it becomes everyone's facts. Well, here's the real truth Mr President,.... you are entitled to your own opinions, not your own facts. In the circles I run in, it's known as lying.

"Warren Buffett's secretary shouldn't pay a higher tax rate than Warren Buffett. There is no justification for it," Obama said. "It is wrong that in the United States of America, a teacher or a nurse or a construction worker who earns $50,000 should pay higher tax rates than somebody pulling in $50 million."

Cowboy's comments: My God, how can he just make this crap up?!?!?

Buffett wrote in a recent piece for The New York Times that the tax rate he paid last year was lower than that paid by any of the other 20 people in his office.

Cowboy's comments: There may be some truth in some these rate claims. Buffett can employ the best accountants and tax lawyers; he can hide (legally of course) tons of money in various tax free and protected investments and funds. But there is no doubt that he paid more money in taxes than probably all of his staff combined. And there is the definition of taxes and tax rates. Are we talking about baseline tax rates or the rate on taxable income? Are we talking about wages or investment income?

This year, households making more than $1 million will pay an average of 29.1 percent of their income in federal taxes, including income taxes and payroll taxes, according to the Tax Policy Center, a Washington think tank.

Households making between $50,000 and $75,000 will pay 15 percent of their income in federal taxes. Lower-income households will pay less. For example, households making between $40,000 and $50,000 will pay an average of 12.5 percent of their income in federal taxes. Households making between $20,000 and $30,000 will pay 5.7 percent.

The latest IRS figures are a few years older — and limited to federal income taxes — but show much the same thing. In 2009, taxpayers who made $1 million or more paid on average 24.4 percent of their income in federal income taxes, according to the IRS. Those making $100,000 to $125,000 paid on average 9.9 percent in federal income taxes. Those making $50,000 to $60,000 paid an average of 6.3 percent.

Cowboy's comments: As these different rates are fair even though the constitution never said anything about tax payers, or tax payers paying what they could afford.

Obama's claim hinges on the fact that, for high-income families and individuals, investment income is often taxed at a lower rate than wages. The top tax rate for dividends and capital gains is 15 percent. The top marginal tax rate for wages is 35 percent, though that is reserved for taxable income above $379,150.

With tax rates that high, why do so many people pay at lower rates? Because the tax code is riddled with more than $1 trillion in deductions, exemptions and credits, and they benefit people at every income level, according to data from the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation, Congress' official scorekeeper on revenue issues.

The Tax Policy Center estimates that 46 percent of households, mostly low- and medium-income households, will pay no federal income taxes this year. Most, however, will pay other taxes, including Social Security payroll taxes.

"People who are doing quite well and worry about low-income people not paying any taxes bemoan the fact that they get so many tax breaks that they are zeroed out," said Roberton Williams, a senior fellow at the Tax Policy Center. "People at the bottom of the distribution say, but all of those rich guys are getting bigger tax breaks than we're getting, which is also the case."

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was pressed at a White House briefing on the number of millionaires who pay taxes at a lower rate than middle-income families. He demurred, saying that people who make most of their money in wages pay taxes at a higher rate, while those who get most of their income from investments pay at lower rates.

"So it really depends on what is your profession, where's the source of your income, what's the specific circumstances you face, and the averages won't really capture that," Geithner said.

Cowboy's comments: Exactly Mr "Turbo Tax" Geithner. So tell your boss to can the class warfare talk. Or at least answer this question: "Just how much of my money is the Federal government entitled to?"

Who's the Infidel?

This was sent to me through e-mail from an old Cowboy buddy of mine and he claims it is a true story about Rick Mathes is a well-known leader in prison ministry.

The man who walks with God always gets to his destination. If you have a pulse you have a purpose.

The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!! I attended my annual training session that's required or maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who each explained their beliefs.

I was particularly interested in what the Islamic had to say. The Muslim gave a great presentation of the Basics of Islam, complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.

When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Muslim and asked: 'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?'

There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, 'Non-believers!'

I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.' He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.' I then stated, 'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine The Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'

The Muslim was speechless.

I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question: Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven, and He wants you to be there with me?'

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the ‘Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.

In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President. I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us spreads this message,....that Islam, at least the Islam practiced by the vocal majority, is not compatible with America.

From the Conservative Insider:  Perry Drives a Wedge Between Two GOP Contenders

During the last Tea Party debate, sponsored by CNN and Tea Party Express was, as our friend Melissa Clouthier stated, a “bloodbath”. She went on, “Everyone got dinged tonight. It was a bloodbath against each other rather than against Obama. Newt is the only one who brings the conversation around to Obama.”
Of most interest to us at ConservativeINSIDER is the dynamic that Rick Perry’s entry into the race has had on the other candidates, notably Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. To our eyes, Perry with his immediate entry as a frontrunner has driven a wedge between the two, pushing Romney to the left and Ron Paul even further towards the fringe. Neither have substantially changed their message or positions, (at least this week, in Romney’s case), but the arrival of Perry has certainly sucked up a lot of support that both candidates were counting on in their path to the nomination.

The early arguments between Romney and Perry centered largely around Perry’s job record in Texas. As in the previous debate, Perry emerged from this encounter on top, and Romney, clearly intent on getting something to stick, ended up looking somewhat shrill and childish.

Romney’s appeal to the soft right of the GOP is under attack. Perry has captured the majority of Mitt’s supporters in the Tea Party wing of the GOP, and we expect him to start making a push for the more moderate voters.

On the right, Perry has moved in on Ron Paul. Paul’s constituency has always been a rather odd one, with his left-wing anti-war supporters and the far right libertarians. His appeal to the grassroots GOP had grown since 2008 as the party moved right on fiscal issues. Perry’s entry has largely taken these supporters from Paul, and left him again on the fringe. Cowboy's Comment: I see Perry as taking support from all Candidates: Business/Economy/Jobs oriented voters from Romney; Tea Party advocates from Bachmann (and Paul); and voters looking for a bonafide leader from Rick Santorium. It remains to be seen if Perry can hold on. He does have a lot of baggage,...different issues that pisses both Conservatives and Liberals off.

It remains to be seen, of course, whether Perry will withstand the pressure he faces going forward. Nonetheless, he is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the Tea Party sentiments in the GOP. With his conservative bona fides and his record in Texas, this primary election seems almost tailor made for him.

Solyandra and Obama's Loan of Taxpayer Money

While Obama is out trying to get support for his tax increasing costly "jobs" bill, the story comes out about Solyandra, solar panel company that received $535 million dollar loan of tax payer money, is declaring bankruptcy leaving tax payers on the hook. This was the same company that Obama visited in the spring of 2010 saying the company was "leading the way toward a brighter and more prosperous future." Actually it was only a month later that Solyandra let 100 employees go and canceled it opening public stock option.

This week FBI agents raided the company and seized boxes of documents. Why is that?

Republicans are accusing Obama and his administration of rocket scientists (I say that facetiously) because this is the same company that the Dept of Energy, under Bush, turned down for a loan because of bad company prospects. And yet Obama gives this less than stellar company a $535 million loan of our money!?!

Now e-mails between White House and Dept of Energy indicate that the Obama Administration may have pressured Dept of Energy to grant the loan so that Obama could show case it in a photo opportunity. Also smelling of political poop is the fact that Billionaire and Obama Campaign contributor George Kaiser was supporting the deal.

It is undeniable that after the sorry deal went through, Obama officials re-financed a bad loan into another bad loan from which Solyandra defaulted on earlier this year. Part of that loan re-financing allowed Solyandra to pay back investors before tax payers as it went bankrupt, and the facts are apparently now that Solyandra was going bankrupt when the re-financing came through. Holy Cow, people get fired for this in the private sector,.....oh I forgot that we get to fire Obama and his motley crew of business misfits in November next year.

What does the White House say about this? Basically Carney, the White House mouth piece and chief propagandist declared in part that...."there is no evidence (to indicate wrong doing on the Administrations part)." The FBI won't say why it raided Solyandra's offices, but the FBI later searched Solyandra executives' homes.

There is an upside to the downside that we will lose the $535 million of tax payers money, and that upside is that the there is a call to do away with Obama's green jobs program. We'll hopefully see an positive outcome over this and hopefully someone will be held accountable,....maybe for the first time in this Administration..... .......but first the obvious question has to answered,...Was it corruption or just incompetence?

CDC Warning

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a recent warning about a highly contagious, highly virulent strain of Gonorrhea. This new strain, called Gonorrhea Lectim, is contracted not through the promiscuous behavior but through the dangerous and high risk practice of putting your cranium up your rectum.

Gonorrhea Lectim, pronounced “gonna-re-elect-em” is a terrible obamanation on mankind. With more and more people discovering just how terrible this disease is we are hopefully that this disease which peaked in 2008, is slowly being eradicated. With the introduction of a very promising medicine called votemout, pronounced “vote-em-out”, first used in November 2010, it seems to have slowed this insidious disease. We continue to be hopeful that a second dose, in November 2012, will wipe out this disease from sea to shining sea.

Democrats lose former Congressman Anthony "Twitter Pervert" Weiner's NY seat

Wow! Not only do the Demos get blasted for Weiner's recent Twitter scandal,..... in the open election for the vacant seat after Wiener's resignation, a little known Republican candidate, Bob Turner, who is a retired businessman, stomped a mud hole in the butt of the Democrat David Weprin, winning by 8% of the vite in a heavily Democratic district. This is the first Republican elected to this seat since 1922. This district was also reported to be 40% which raises the questions of why were Democrats elected in the first place by people who would be seemingly pro-Israel? Or maybe the people are highly pissed off over Obama's decidedly pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli stance? Remember the "lets go back to pre-1967 borders" speech by Obama?

Some pundits see this as a sign that the People are sick and tired of Congress (they are!) or that the People are sick and tired (they certainly are!) of Obama's failed socialist policies which are destroying this country (boy are they!).

In any event, if this is not a sign that Obama and the Democrats are going to be in for a enormous defeat come November 2012, I just don't know what is.

Ron Paul's Extensive Support Network

Ron Paul,..Republican (or is it isolationist party?) candidate for President. Congressman Paul (R-TX) enjoys a tremendous following among young Americans,..many of whom are highly capable across the technology and social media venues. Everythim there is an on-line poll, Paul comes out on top, probably due to the linked in young people that support him tweeting, e-mailing, facebooking and twitting information across the web and airways...hell they probably use skype, X Box and the magic eight ball as well.

I make no bones about it, Paul is too much of an isolationist for my tastes. And his whining voice actually drove the dogs out of my living room. Still I would vote for him seven days a week and twice on Sundays over the current Socialist in Chief Barack Obama.

You got to hand it to Ron Paul, he is knowledgeable about the financial peril threatening this country. But I have to say that Ron Paul does not have a lock on the military support as he and his organization tries to claim. What to impress me on military support? Go get about 6,000 senior Non-Commissioned Officers and Field Grade Battalion Commanders to support you....Allen West types....yes, that would impress me.

Scum Bags Crawl out of their Holes During 9-11 Remembrance

Paul Krugman, a Op-Ed columnist for the New York Times, aka the New York Slime, wrote the following:

"What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neo-cons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons."

What a scumbag,....he is calling what happened after 9-11 shameful?!?!? What is shameful was the terrorist attacks on innocent people no less and liberals of Krugman's ilk apologizing for the American response. And just how did Bush, Guilani, etc., profit?

That American response has liberated two countries and hundreds of thousands of people from the yoke of tyranny and caused several other countries to re-think their brutal control over their own populace.


And then there is blogger Chris Hedges, another scum bag, who wrote in part the following sorry excuse for a column:

And Hedges pass his work off as "digging for the truth",....well, just so you don’t get all worked out over looking for the truth,....here it is,......Hedges is a loser. A liberal apologist who probably thinks nothing is worth risking your life for...even the safety and lives or others,...or even Freedom. I'd like to see this liberal, filth spewing scumbag stand in front of a soldier or Marine and say even half of the crap they are writing. I feel sorry for this son who has to grow up with this butthole.

Bachmann's Campaign Slows Down

I would agree with a comment made by Wayne that a Bachmann-Cain or Cain-Bachmann ticket would be highly supportable. But in the world of political campaigns momentum is everything and Michelle Bachmann seems to have lost a little as Governor Perry entered the race and Bachmann's campaign manager, Ed Rollins, stepped down.

I think she can rebound and she has to try to get back some of the Tea Party and other real conservative support that she lost first to Herman Cain and now to Rick Perry.

Not only did Bachmann lose Rollins, a veteran political campaigner and consultant, but she also lost her deputy campaign manager, David Polyansky, who announced he was stepping down as well.

Then to add to Bachmann's predicament, Rollins was quoted as saying: "Legitimately, it's a (Mitt) Romney-(Rick) Perry race. I think she's (Bachmann) the third candidate at this point in time, which is way different and better than we thought when we started this thing and she's very much in this thing." Which came across as a back handed type of comment.

So far Bachmann's views, heated rhetoric and verbal attacks on President Barack Obama have won her fans among conservative activists and donors. Now she needs to present some solid plans for how she would change not only the economic strategy but the role of Federal Government to demonstrate that she has much more to offer than rhetoric.

But back to Wayne's comment,....hell Wayne, I'd supported any Conservative ticket against our current Administration. Even the caboose clowns like Gary Johnston (or it is Johnson? - who knows or remembers?) or what's his name, the former Governor of Utah? And yes, even Ron Paul.

Ten Years Later - September 11th

Like the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that Sunday morning of December 7, 1941, the assault on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, was a complete surprise. Politicians, pundits and quasi-historians have tried to find similarities in the two events, but there are few other real parallels.

Everyone older than 20 remembers whom he was with, what he was doing and how he learned we were at war that beautiful Tuesday morning a decade ago. Most of us recall a gorgeous late-summer morning with blue skies - “shirt-sleeve weather” - and then the horror: two of the world’s tallest buildings collapsing into piles of rubble, the west wall of the Pentagon in flames and a fire-bathed crater in the soil of Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Thanks to young Americans wearing helmets, flak jackets, flight suits and combat boots, Saddam Hussein – the Butcher of Baghdad – is no more and Osama bin Laden is dead. Al Qaeda, the vicious radical Islamist movement bin Laden spawned, is fractured and badly damaged but still alive in Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, and Chechnya and seeks to take advantage of uncertainty in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. The Ayatollahs in Iran are guiding violence in Syria and threatening stability in Iraq.

The Price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance,....well, said Colonel North!

Who is Rick Perry?

Readers of this site know that I support Herman Cain, but a reader sent this to me and asked me to post....

He is a fifth generation Texan, the son of hardscrabble west Texas tenant farmers that were Democrats but conservative. He grew up in a farm town too small to be on the state map. Life was so hard that he was six years old before his house had indoor plumbing. His mother sewed his clothes, including the underwear he wore to college.

He is an Eagle Scout. After Paint Creek High School, he attended Texas A&M, graduated, and was commissioned into the Air Force where he became a C-130 pilot.

Now 61 years old, he has won nine elections to four different offices in Texas state government. In the first three elections he ran as a Democrat then switched to the Republican Party. He is currently the 47th governor of Texas – a position he has held for 11 years, the longest tenure of any governor in the nation.

He has never lost an election.

Rick Perry was the Lieutenant Governor to whom Governor George Bush handed over the office after winning the 2000 Presidential election. Since then, Perry won gubernatorial elections in 2002, 2004, and 2010, the last time by 55% against a field consisting of a Democrat, a Libertarian, a Green Party, and an Independent.

Since he became the Governor of Texas, a right to work state that taxes neither personal income nor capital gains, has added more jobs than the other 49 states combined. There is alot of debate on the type of jobs Texas has created,...many are minimum wage oriented, but when you have a state over ran by illegal immigration and sitting on the edge of their collective seats due to rampant drug violence just over the border,... to have a flourishing economy contrasted by the Federal debt and annual deficit spending,...well that is an accomplishment.

In the last two years, low taxes and little regulation led his state to create 47% of all jobs created in the entire nation. Five of the top ten cities with the highest job growth in the nation are in Texas. People follow jobs, so in the last four years for which data are available, Texas led every state in net interstate migration growth.

Perry signed ground-breaking “loser pays” tort reform and medical litigation rules that caused malpractice insurance rates to fall. Some 20,000 doctors have since moved to Texas.

Texas boasts 58 of the Fortune 500 companies – more than any other state. Since May 2011 Texas resumed its pre-recession employment levels. Only two other states and the District of Columbia have done that.

Texas ships 16% of the nation’s export value. California trails at 11%. Of the 70 companies that have fled California so far in 2011, 14 relocated in Texas .

In this year’s Texas legislative season, Perry got most of what he wanted. With no new taxes, a fiscally lean state budget was passed leaving $6 billion in a rainy day fund even as other states around the country struggled to balance budgets and avoid more deficit borrowing. A voter ID bill passed that was designed to prevent ballot box fraud and illegal voting. A bill passed that makes plaintiffs pay court costs and attorney fees if their suits are deemed frivolous. There is alot of debate over the cuts to state education. I think the debate should be centered over how the school districts cut waste and lean out their administrative staff.

Perry scored points even in his legislative failures. He failed to get sanctuary cities banned – Texas towns in which police cannot question detainees about their immigration status. The blame fell on the legislature. Perry also failed to get a so-called “anti-groping” bill passed that would put Transportation Security Administration agents in prison if they touch the genitals, anus, or breasts of passengers in a pat down. Federal officials threatened to halt all flights out of Texas airports and the bill died in special session. That endeared Texans even more to TSA employees living in Texas.

Perry jogs daily in the morning. He has no bodyguard with him, but his daughter’s dog runs by his side and he carries a laser-guided automatic pistol in his belt. Last year while jogging in an undeveloped area, a coyote paralleled his jogging route, eyeing his dog. He drew his pistol and killed the animal with one shot, leaving it where it fell. “He became mulch," Perry said. Animal rights groups protested, but Perry shrugged it off. “Don’t come after my dog,” he warned them.

Recently, Obama asked Perry to delay the July 7 execution of Humberto Leal in order to comply with the International Court of Justice in The Hague and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. Perry refused. Therefore Obama asked the US Supreme Court to delay the execution because it would damage US foreign relations. The Court refused 5-4 and Perry ordered the execution to go forward as scheduled. Over the howls of diplomats, politicians, and the UN, Leal was administered a lethal injection at 6:20 p.m. Before he died, he admitted his guilt and asked for forgiveness.

The case has special implications for Perry, who is considering a run for the presidency in 2012. Even his critics resent federal interference in a Texas execution, which is related to a state, not a federal, crime – an alcohol and drug-fueled rape and murder 17 years ago by an illegal whose family brought him into the country 35 years ago as a child. The interference hinges not on the man’s guilt, which Leal’s advocates acknowledged, but on a technicality – failure to inform Leal that he could have gotten legal representation from the Mexican consulate in lieu of the court-appointed attorneys who represented him. Independent Texans saw Obama’s interference as another intrusion of federal power into the affairs of a state, which could cost Obama support in other states.

Needless to say, Perry is a hard-edged conservative and a ferocious defender of 10th Amendments rights (“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”) – an explicit restriction of the federal government to only those powers granted in the Constitution. Perry accuses the federal government, especially the Obama administration, of illegal overreach.

Perry said “no thanks” to the feds whose stimulus offered taxpayer dollars for education and unemployment assistance. The strings on “free money” from Washington , he said, would restrict Texas in managing its own affairs. Perry even depleted all state funds to fight recent wildfires before asking Washington for disaster relief. His request has been ignored, which comes across as an unvarnished federal power play, further pitting Perry and Texans against the federal government.

Governor Susana Martinez (R-NM)

I'll bet not too many people have heard of Susana Martinez, swept into the Governor's office in Sante Fe, New Mexico during the conservative bend by a population tired of the spending excesses, ineptness and corruption of the Bill Richardson adminstration.

Bill Richardson, better known as Bill Clinton's buddy, former U.S. Representative, former Secretary of Energy and former U.N. Ambassador..
......or that fat guy from Sante Fe.

Enough about cheeseball Richardson who has had an investigation doging his departure from office, and whose findings concerning political favors, vendettas and corruption seem to spring forth weekly long after the People of New Mexico evicted his twinkie eating butt.

I expect the Country will hear more about Susana Martinez, a former prosecutor from Las Cruces, New Mexico. Coming from family embeded in Law Enforcement,.....both her father and her husband were law enforcment officers,........ she is well entrenched in a law and order approach to illegal immigration in a state who has granted sanctuary staus and drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.  

Gone is lavish spending such as the State jet she sold that used to fly Richardson's fat clown ass around, and gone is the environment of politcal favors.

Currently Governor Martinez is in a fight with the Democratic controlled Legislature over the coming state agenda. The Democrats on one side favor a one item agenda,....redistricting following the last census. Of course they are concerned about this as it goes to re-election and campaign funding,...continuous status and power.  

Governor Martinez on the other hand favors tacking a myriad of problems among them: third graders who read below the national average; repealing drivers licenses to illegal immigrants; legislation to save the endangered state unemployment fund; legislation to ban fireworks during droughts - this in a state that was decimated by fires seems kinda common sense to most of us excepting Democrat politicians; and some movea afoot to grant New Mexico companies an advantage in state contracting bids and a public works project to put more people back to work.

So to summarize for the children and Liberals,....on one hand you have a state legislature looking only toward their political futures and one the other hand you have a leader. I think we'll be hearing much more about Governor Susana Martinez on the national stage in the coming years, as she is only 52 years old now.

Oh, did I mention she has a concealed weapons permit and routinely carries a handgun?

NEA,....well, They Just Plain Suck

Cowboys received a comment from Wayne,...."They need to start teaching the true history of the USA again. The NEA has failed the country! As such the Department of Education needs to be dismissed in total!"

Wayne, could not agree with you more. Little has Cowboys and Tea Parties wrote about the National Education Association so far, but they are always in our minds as they are another Union who exists to devise ways to perpetuate their existence, entitlements and power base. The NEA themselves boast that they are a "United States labor union representing teachers, secretaries and educational support personnel" .........hey, here's an idea, what about representing the children?

I think that education in general, with the Federal involvement or control over national education and the NEA's agenda, is a septic tank gobbling up funding and destroying education maing it a major political issue in the 2012 Presidential elections especially if Governor Rick Perry is the Republican nominee.

Some see this as a weakness for Perry, others as a strength. I can tell you that the Department of Education would come closet to being disbanded under a Perry Administration. I would like to see more States stand up to the Federal Government, and the Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, like
Perry did when he refused to sell control of the state's education system for any price or bribe from the Federal government. This was of course when Perry, continuing his disdain for the Federal government's role in public education, refused to allow the State of Texas to to accept a common national cirriculum for Federal funding.

The NEA is like any other union, strengthing their control and their entitlements to the detriment of the sector they work in. In his case, it's education and the children suffer.

Look at Michelle Rhee, the former Chancellor of the Washington, D.C. public schools from 2007 to 2010. She inherited a compleltly broke school system where students historically had below-average scores on standardized tests, such as only 8% of the eighth graders were at grade level in mathematics.....all this despite having the third highest spending per student in the US.

Rhee instituted accountability for the results from standardized tests. She closed 23 schools, fired 36 principals and cut approximately 121 office jobs.

She took on teacher tenure and pay issues, fighting the union who protected poor teachers,.......after all they pay union dues. She tried to trade higher pay for no tenure rights,...all along fought by the powerful union. Finally, in her final year as Chancellor, Rhee and the unions agreed on a new contract that offered 20% pay raises and bonuses of $20,000 to $30,000 for strong student scores and achievement, in exchange for weakened teachers' seniority protections and the end of teacher tenure for one year. Under this new contract, Rhee was able to fired over 240 poor performing teachers and put over 700 on a type of performance probation.

Maybe the next President, a Republican hopefully, can hire Michelle Rhee as the next, and last, Secretary of Education, tasking her to close down this enormous sink hole for tax payers money and return education to the states where it belongs.

The Second Great Depression

The 2nd Great Depression was not avoided, it was delayed. Our two decade long delusional credit boom could have been voluntarily abandoned in 2008. The banks at fault could have been liquidated in an orderly bankruptcy with stockholders and bondholders accepting the consequences of their foolishness. Unemployment would have soared to 12%, GDP would have collapsed, and the stock market would have fallen to 5,000. The bad debt would have been flushed from the system. Instead our Wall Street beholden leaders chose to save their banker friends, cover-up the bad debt, shift private debt to taxpayer debt, print trillions of new dollars in an effort to inflate away the debt, and implemented every wacky Keynesian stimulus idea Larry Summers could dream up. These strokes of genius have failed miserably. Bernanke, Paulson, Geithner and Obama have set in motion a series of events that will ultimately lead to a catastrophic currency collapse. We have entered the 2nd phase of the Greater Depression and there are no monetary or fiscal bullets left in the gun. Further expansion of debt will lead to a hyper-inflationary collapse as the remaining confidence in the U.S. dollar is exhausted. We are one failed Treasury auction away from a currency crisis.

Cowboy's comment: Yes, it would have been much better to take the economic ass whooping then, as opposed to the severe, life threatening beating that we are most likely in for. The Democrats, and those who think like them, will ride their ideology to this Country's grave.

About The Fiscal Debacle in Greece

Jason Manolopoulos, author of Greece ’s 'Odious’ Debt, says the state has become a hydra with seven heads: cronyism, statism, nepotism, clientelism, corruption, closed shops and waste. Kleptocrats have been running the show and their predilection for thieving and bribery has poisoned the nation.

Cowboy's comment: "Kleptocrats?"...............sounds like the U.S. Senate. A close watch should be on Greece. I think that what happens there could very well happen here. Hence, my opposition to raising the debt ceiling under any circumstances.

Minor Shakeup at ATF Over "Fast and Furious"

"Fast and Furious" the incredibly stupid BATF&E operation that put thousands of military style civilian weapons in the hands of the Mexican Cartels has become too great a burden for the Obama Administration, but not big enough to actually hold some responsible and accountable.

What the press is reporting as a major shakeup, is actually a serious of minor moves by Eric Holder's Justice Department to deflect blame and to hope that the public (and Republican legislators) move on.

Kenneth Melson, acting director of the BATF&E since since 2009, was reassigned after admitting mistakes in the sting operation meant to try to crack down on weapons reaching violent drug gangs from U.S. gun stores. Re-assigned?......Huh?

Dennis Burke, the U.S. attorney for Arizona, resigned after admitting mistakes in the operation.

Emory Hurley, the lead government prosecutor was also reassigned. I fear being redundant, but re-assigned? You have got to be kidding me!!!)

Another administration official said the shake-up at ATF was a chance for a "fresh start given everything they've gone through lately." Fresh start? How about a fresh start for the ATF agents whose careers were ruined because they had the ethics and character to question their bosses who allowed and abetted arming the cartels? How about some justice for Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry who was gunned down by one of these weapons the BATF&E allowed to go south?

The BATF&E has yet to answer if the guns used to shoot two and kill one ICE agent in February of this year were part of the Fast and Furious weapons import idiocy.

These supposedly sting operation, called "Fast and Furious," has birthed congressional probes which have been stymied by the Obama Administration.

I have received several dozen e-mails from people who believe this was an intentional arming of the cartels from U.S. sources to give proof to the other baseless accusations of Felipe Calderon, the Ass Clown of a Mexican President, that the U.S. was to blame for the Mexican violence and butchery which has killed over 40,000 at last count. It would also, as the theory goes, give Obama new fodder to call for elimination of guns rights in this country.

1. President Barack Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review, is no longer a "lawyer". He surrendered his license back in 2008 in order to escape charges he lied on his bar application. A "Voluntary Surrender" is not something where you decide "Gee, a license is not really something I need anymore, is it?" and forget to renew your license. No, a "Voluntary Surrender" is something you do when you've been accused of something, and you 'voluntarily surrender" your license five seconds before the state suspends you.

2. Michelle Obama "voluntarily surrendered" her law license in 1993.

3. So, we have the first black President and First Lady - who don't actually have licenses to practice law.

7. The former Constitutional Senior Lecturer (Obama) cited the U.S. Constitution the other night during his State of the Union Address. Unfortunately, the quote he cited was from the Declaration of Independence ... not the Constitution.
