Reminder on Independence Day

This excellent article was sent via the Veterans e-mail net: In two days we will celebrate our Independence from England. While America has never been perfect, it has always been great.

Alexander Tytler wrote:

The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.
Recently, I have noticed a lot more articles along the lines of the ones below (both on the liberal and conservative sides).

I have overheard people openly talking about civil war in grocery stores. While we all have seen these things happening in other countries, we have never seen things like this in America.

We became a country because the people came together to become one nation as Americans. We now have a nation is no longer the melting pot of Americans but more of a tossed salad. People still come here from all other countries but they no longer want to become Americans, they want to be Chinese-American, Mexican-American, African-American, etc. They want their own little section of America with their own laws, such as Sharia law. I have never before seen this great country divided as it is now. America is now divided by clutures, divided by race, divided by class, divided by rights, divided by religion, divided by politics, divided by justice, divided by its direction, divided by its basic sense of right and wrong, divided by its laws.

After living in Africa for a couple of years, I realized, they actually have more resources than America does. What kept the continent and countries of Africa from becoming great was "tribalization". What made America great was the phrase "United We Stand".

Is this the destiny of America?

As you celebrate the birth, history and achievements of our great country, I, as a student of history, also urge you to give thought to the steps above in relation to America, and to pray for our country's future.

Stay Safe!
