Founders Wisdom – Still True and Valid Today

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not" – Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

A warning, from over 200 years ago, about becoming an entitlest society, or if you prefer a Socialist State . In the simplest terms, if you are given something you value it less; then you come to expect it. I have seen in my relatives and constantly do battle with myself over it in some things. We have to hold people responsible. I call it “taking responsibility for your own misery”. There are examples where we can compassionately help people get off the welfare rolls. Former Governor Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin is one of them with his welfare to work program.

"Industry is increased, commodities are multiplied; agriculture and manufacturers flourish; and herein consists of the true wealth and prosperity of a state." - Alexander Hamilton, report of a National Bank 1790.

Widsom from 220 years ago, still valid today. The way to prosperity for this Country is through small business. Small business cannot get there with the heavy burden of unnecessary government regulation, ridiculous health care mandates, extremely high Worksmen Compensation insurance costs and unfair taxation. These small businesses will not expand, and, will let workers go in order to keep the business afloat. Obamacare and the pending Cap & Trade legislation will kill small business.

“There are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.” - James Madison, speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788.

The growth of today’s government under the Obama Administration is unprecedented. The growth of government power and the growth of spending is unlike anything in the history of the world for any country and will surely destroy this Great Country if it doesn’t change and change now.
