Herman Cain top the Town Hall straw poll for the Republican Presidential choice in May 2011 - still 18 months away from the 2012 election, but surprising none the less for Cain is a political newcomer. In fact, a lot of mainstream, old guard Republicans are challenging Cain on his lack of experience, saying his lack of political experience will hurt. Cain's response is "....that's all you have in Washington D.C. is politicians, and how has that worked out for us so far?" Good Point, Mr. Cain.
This is what Town Hall and other sites are saying about Herman Cain,...and oh by the way, what a great name,....it lends itself to nicknames like Herminator,...or HurriCain,....or a slogan,...Jump on the Herman Cain Train.
2012 hopeful and former Godfather pizza CEO Herman Cain is the hottest thing in Republican presidential politics. Cain, a businessman who served as the CEO of Godfather's pizza chain, has been winning over converts with his fiery rhetorical flourishes and non-political background.
He was widely judged to have emerged as the winner from last month's presidential debate, which included, among others, former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty. And a new Gallup poll showed Cain receiving a surprisingly strong eight percent support, putting him ahead of nationally-known candidates like Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann.
And, he was the most searched-for GOP candidate on Yahoo! in the last month by far, overtaking Ron Paul from the previous month.
While Cain is opening lots of Republican eyes, he's not exactly new to politics.
In 1994, he became a conservative hero when he confronted then President Bill Clinton at a nationally televised health care town hall in Omaha, Nebraska. Ten years later, Cain ran in a Senate primary in Georgia against a Republican Congressman who enjoyed the backing of the political establishment. He won just 26 percent of the vote.
So can Cain keep it up? He is the most charismatic candidate in the field -- he calls himself the Herminator -- and is a favorite of the tea party movement.
But, he's still little known by Republican voters nationally and could struggle to stay financially competitive with people like former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty.
Cain is rising at the moment. But he'll need a top three finish in Iowa's caucuses next year to be truly taken seriously.

Spinning Leftist Columnists
I was sent an article from a liberal columnist named Froma Harrop. I am not making her name up, she is a columnist for Creators Syndicate out of Los Angeles (I know - figure the odds) and I have in fact mentioned her dribble once or twice before on this site.
Her latest column, or at least the latest one I read, is entitled "Playing Chicken with the US Debt Ceiling". Within the column she contends that "the Republicans are playing a honking stupid game of chicken that could plunge a struggling economy into total misery." This jackass must think the American people are too stupid to realize that Democrat's were in control the past four years; spent this country to where we are now - a hair breadths away from national bankruptcy; failed to
produce a budget for the past couple of years while they throw stones and make up lies about Congressman Ryan's proposed budget destroying Medicare - it was Obamacare that took $500 billion - yes 500 BILLION out of Medicare; and, the one thing the American people understand is that if you continually overspend - that is spend more than you make, then you have two choices: 1 - make some hard choices and go without all but the essentials, or 2 - go bankrupt and do without everything.
Froma Harrop, a leftist stooge, gives us insight into the Liberal strategy: Do nothing on the federal debt; do nothing to cut entitlements (after all these are democrat voters); and, continue to spin the facts and make the Republicans look like the ones who are taking this country over the brink by failure to pass an increase in the federal debt limit.
And another thing that rubs my fur wrong, is that this clown is from California who has 6 Businesses leaving the state every week due to the unfriendly business climate caused by over regulation and massive taxation. For example the small business tax index for California is over 50, while a state like Texas, with business friendly (lack of) regulations has a business tax index of 12. No wonder why the Federal Government is going bankrupt, it is following California's lead!

You Cut Phase II - First of June 2011
Congress needs your vote. Go to http://www.majorityleader.gov/YouCut/ and vote on one of the three money pits below, or provide your own ideas on cutting the Federal spending plan.
Terminate U.S. Contributions to the World Bank's Clean Technology Fund
Potential Savings: $838 million
In 2008, the U.S. government committed to make $2 billion in contributions to climate change activities at the World Bank, two-thirds of which were intended for the Clean Technology Fund. The Clean Technology Fund subsidizes the construction in developing countries of “clean” energy generation facilities that are more expensive than traditional coal or oil-based power plants. The fund has developed a wind energy farm in Mexico and a geothermal power plant in Indonesia. So far, the U.S. has provided $481 million of the total estimated U.S. contribution of $1.3 billion for the Clean Technology Fund.
Terminate the Federal Railroad Administration’s Funding of High-Speed Rail Projects
Potential Savings: $3.8 billion
The 2009 Stimulus bill provided $8 billion in grants to develop high-speed rail lines intended to shorten passenger rail travel times with trains operating at between 90 and 250 miles per hour. Another $2.1 billion was appropriated for these projects in the last two fiscal years, although no funding was provided in the final appropriations for FY 2011. These grants fund construction of rail lines that States will then be required to support with annual operating subsidies. Critics note that only two high speed rail lines in the world are actually profitable. Due to the potential taxpayer exposure from future operating subsidies, several Governors have refused federal high-speed rail funds.
Terminate Climate Change Activities at the National Park Service
Potential Savings: $4.5 million
The National Park Service has established a Climate Change Response Office and a Climate Change Monitoring System as part of a department-wide mandate by the Secretary of the Interior to devote more resources to the issue of global warming. The office will do “scenario planning” on possible warming effects within the parks, in addition to formulating policies that reduce the Park Service’s “carbon footprint.” In addition, the office will inform staff and visitors about the impacts of climate change in the parks. Funding for these activities was zeroed out in HR 1, however this termination was not enacted as part of the final budget agreement for FY 2011.
