I am grateful for someone sending me the link to a coalition of County Sheriffs in Northern California and Southern Oregon who are standing up for the people against intrusions into Liberty (and dare I say common sense) by the Federal Government.
The 10th Amendment, stating "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." It designed to restrict powers of the Federal Government, yet the Federal Government uses the "commerce clause" as well as Presidential edict,..err,....executive orders and cabinet agency regulations to grab more and more power.
Back to these counties,.....who are facing execution of uninhibited powers by the Federal Government in destroying dams that provide water and electrical power in favor of fish; shutting down access roads to Federal Lands that will minimize the Counties' ability to access and conduct search and rescue operations, and, search for marijuana fields operated by foreign nationals, notably Mexican nationals, in the employ of Mexican cartels.
Access to recreational areas for hikers, bikers and horseback riding as well as fishing are all affected. Other Federal Regulatory infringement kills the lumber industry and hurts the farming and ranching that have been the life of multiple generations of families.

There are eight county sheriffs from Northern California and Southern Oregon speaking on a panel to Defend Rural America on 22 October 2011. Despite the low media coverage there were about 700 people in attendance from all over California, Oregon and as far away as Wyoming. The sheriffs made it perfectly clear that they are the last line of defense for their citizens and given authority by the 10th
Amendment.

Cowboys and the Tea Party political movement have a lot on common. Both believe in individual responsibility; judging a man by his actions not words; and, both are disgusted with government intrusions into our lives and particularly our God given rights.
